In 2001 we began a Jeevan Asha Day Care Centre (DCC) in a village, Gumpadhar, in Odisha. Five years of the DCC presence brought joy and life with the impartation of literacy and education to a village which in their own words, had been ‘forgotten for generations’. Subsequently, we phased out from this village and have since worked in 3 other villages.

In 2013, the DCC in Patteri village began with strengthening the foundational literacy skills of the children teaching them from a customized syllabus. Over the years we recognized the need for Bridge classes. Since then, we have transitioned from a Day Care Centre to a Bridge Learning Center. And because planned nutrition helps in better brain development and improved learning, midday meals are provided.
